Dear Associations:

I have recently met with Secretary François to discuss the MQA plans to roll out a 100% continuing education audit beginning in 2006. We have heard from many of our stakeholders (licensees, board members, legislators, and association leaders) with concerns about the impact this will have. We have taken into consideration the concerns we’ve heard and determined a means to allay those concerns while fulfilling our statutory requirements to have an electronic continuing education tracking system and to determine compliance with renewal continuing education requirements.

Licensees who have used C.E. Broker to track their hours and who have met the continuing education requirements to renew their licenses will not be subject to an audit.

Again, we will not conduct a 100% CE audit as previously proposed. Secretary François endorses the continuation of our current business process of conducting percentage audits.

Please encourage your members to maintain their continuing education proof of attendance-it is required by law.
Again, thank you for communicating your concerns to us and please continue to let us know how we can better serve you.

Sincerely,

Lucy C. Gee, M.S., Director
Division of Medical Quality Assurance
