IMPORTANT NOTICE: Pursuant to Florida Statutes, Section 456.0635, SB 1986. Effective July 1, 2009, all health care boards including the Florida Board of Respiratory Care, and the DOH shall refuse to issue a license, certificate or registration to any applicant who has been: 1) Convicted of or plead guilty or nolo contendre (no contest) regardless of settlement, to a felony violation of fraud of social and economic assistance (FS Chapter 893), or felony... On October 14, 2009, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) updated its Interim Guidance on Infection Control Measures for 2009 H1N1 Influenza in Healthcare Settings, including protection of Healthcare personnel. (http://www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu/guidelines_infection_control.htm). The updated guidance emphasizes that a successful infection prevention campaign of 2009 H1N1 Swine Flu (H1N1) transmission requires a comprehensive approach. AUDITS-AUDITS EVERYWHERE!!! Since the end of the May 31, 2009 license biennium the FSRC has received over 10 times the usual number of requests for copies of certificates to verify attendance at CEU events due to audits. Over half of those are from RCP’s deficient of the CEU requirement, and many who did not attend FSRC events and have no record of where and when they acquired the CEU’s. The FSRC maintains attendee records for up to 4 years as mandated by the state and has the ability to recreate certificate copies for audits upon request. Continued on page 3
